Companies Competition ~ Street Fighter V ~

The Opening ceremony for Corporate Competition

On December 10th 2016, a 3-on-3 tournament was held on the 12th floor of the KADOKAWA office in Tokyo, Japan. 32 companies gathered to finally give rest to the eternal question, Who is the Best? The rules were simple, 3-on-3, 2 rounds, First to One. The team to grab two wins gets to advance to the next round.

The Kicker

Prior to the match, all companies are granted 1 minute to introduce their company. After both companies were acquainted with each other, an exchange of business cards would occur and it’s straight to the VS screen.

The importance of having fun

Video games ultimately must be enjoyable. With the rise of the eSports movement, video games are slowly turning into a competitive sport rather than for pure enjoyment. It’s very easy to lose sight of what is important when the sole goal is to keep winning. The Companies Competition reminded us today of the old times when friends used to gather together to just wind down and have some fun.

The players enjoying the Street Fighter Tournament

Japanese players are usually very well reserved when it comes time for competition, but today there was special energy in the air.

A special announcement was given at the end of the Tournament detailing the next Companies Competition and we only hope there are more to come.

Special Thanks to the crew who made all of this possible, this tournament could not have happened without their hard work.
